Haemodialysis
The center provides advanced dialysis treatment for patient with chronic renal failure and for that purpose has nine haemodialysis machines (fresinius) with computerized monitoring. These machines possess ultra-filtration control, bicarbonate mode, and sodium profiling facilities which makes them some of the most advanced machines of their kind in the world. The center provides separate machines for Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C positive patients.
The modern trends of dialysis that are available at the center include high flux dialysis, CAVHD, Haeboperfusion and Plasmapheresis. This is also the first center in Coimbatore to provide Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAVHD). More than 1600 Plasmapheresis have been done so far.
On an average, the center conducts 20-25 Haemodialysis a day with the dialysis units operating 24 hrs a day all week long, including Sundays and Holidays.
The unit is manned by fully qualified, committed and experienced technicians specially chosen for this delicate task.
Renal Transplantation
The KG Kidney Center performs renal transplantation for chronic renal failure patients and o0ne of the few specialist hospital providing the same in its geographical region.
The center has till date carried out more than 1000 Renal Transplantations with an enviable 98% success rate, which is comparable to any international standards.
The center is also one of the few centers where cadaver kidney transplantations are carried out successfully. The center was the 4th hospital to perform a cadaver kidney transplant and till date has carried out 14 Cadaver renal transplants. CAPD
K.G. Hospital is one of the leading centers in India for the CAPD (Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis) Program. In the last 4 years, the center has treated 65 patients on CAPD. The center was listed among the Top 5 CAPD centers in the country by Baxter India Pvt. Ltd for conducting an infection free program.
Free BP Clinic
To identify undiagnosed hypertension incidences in the community, K.G. Hospital and the KG Kidney Center operate a free BP Check up clinic in the K.G. Hospital reception area. The Free Check-up is available to all visitors to the K.G. Hospital. Over the period of 1 year since its launch, the drive has screened 1,10,086 patients of which 9,494 patients were identified to have undiagnosed high Blood Pressure. All diagnosed patients are given free counseling and any further investigations are provided at concessional charges at the center itself.
