Monitoring Facilities:
All patients in the IMCU are constantly monitored via ECG along with Central Monitoring Stations. The unit has 5 Pulse Oximeters and a Capnograph Monitor exclusively for the care of the patients. The Unit also boasts of 12 Infusion pumps and 2 Infusion syringe pumps.
Ventilators:
With 10 modern state-of-the-art ventilators like puritan Bennett 7200 A, Bear 3, Bear 5, Bear 1000 ventilators, this Intensive Medical Care Unit is one of the best equipped in the country.
Poison Management:
The IMCU also has a Poison Control and Management facility ready to respond to any poison related medical emergencies. K.G. Hospital also runs a Poison Information Center for the common man. The IMCU practices a modified regime for the treatment of organophospherous poisoning as practiced by Dr V Veerappan that has reduced mortality rate from 30% to a very low 3%. The Unit has successfully treated 1000 cases of OPC poisoning in the last 10 years.
